Batik Heaven and Creative Cue 2010

Wanda from the Exuberant Color blog had an awesome giveaway here. I was one of the winners and received this huge assortment of batik pieces from her. Thanks Wanda for literally "brightening " up my day with all of the color you sent my way. These are stacked 3 deep in spots so this is just a glimpse of the color and prints... just like candy!

I found this "challenge" through the 3 Creative Studios blog. See post here. It sounds just like what I need to get creatively focused and share with other bloggers through 2010. Wanna come out and play ???

Thread Painting by Deb

It's been too wet and grey to get any good color pictures. Took this on a whim through raindrops... glad I did because snow covered the area this morn. Yellow and orange predominates this year... red is a treat.

It's been several months since Deb Hardman of Cold Feet Quilter sent this awesome notebook my way. I turned up the lucky one in a giveaway she had.. Thanks again, Deb...it's a well used notepad.

PS. I was remiss in noting the quilt pattern in last post. Disappearing 9 Patch, pdf. instructions found here... provided by Quilts For Kids.org Do check out this worthwhile organization.
Cold, snowy, woodstove burning and football on.... my kind of day !!!

One Year Blog-aversary Give Away !!!!!

I wasn't on the ball enough to realize that I let my one year anniversary slip by! May 12th 2007 to be exact. Little did I know how big my world would become in regards to the friends I would meet. And bigger still would be the amount of inspiration and encouragement that I would receive just by sharing my own ups and downs on my creative journey.
I started this blog to coincide with a Crazy Quilt Round Robin I was involved in, to chronicle the beginnings of our up north adventure and to stay in touch with family and friends. I was yet to realize at the time how important blogging would become to me, both in the reading of all my favorites and by putting my own thoughts out there through "Crazy Here and Now".
THANK YOU, EACH and EVERYONE OF YOU FOR VISITING ME THROUGH THIS SITE !!!

In honor of the Lupine blooms up here in the northwoods, I put together a little fabric collection of lupine colors and the "Dear Hannah" book that is a take off from the popular "Dear Jane".

My husband will draw a name from all comments received to THIS post, next Saturday morning, June 28. All comments till midnite June 27 will be in the hat. Doesn't matter where you live, if it's Mozambique, this will be mailed to you. I look forward to hearing from you via the comment box! Thanks again everyone!

PS. Now that my camera is back, I'll be back to posting soon..

Till then, Jane

More Surprises... from England & a Dancing Deer

I am so blessed to have met so many wonderful people from across the globe through the internet. One of those people is Judith. her weblog is Threadspider. Dont you love that name? She has recently changed her blog address and is now residing over at Wordpress. I followed her over there and just so happened to be her first visitor. I was just happy to find her but look at what she went and sent me.... this postcard she made has "spring" written all over it as well as the beautiful colors of the threads, ribbon and beads. How very thoughtful of you Threadspider, thank you!! Her blog is a wonderful mix of fabric, fiber, gardening, etc.. please check it out

I have to share this photo from the other evening. This particular deer kept standing on his hind legs and hopping from one cedar branch to the next. Spring tonic to him, great entertainment for me.

The birds are also coming back to life with singing and twittering. These 2 Mourning Doves must be nesting nearby as they're here everyday now. Although they don't migrate, they're showing themselves and practicing their cooing... sooo pretty! Yes those are deer legs; the wildlife resides peacefully together for the most part. However the wolves and coyotes are mating right now and the sounds of that in the dark of the night is ominous, especially when they're are so close to the house. Very wary creatures but a photo op is imminent, I'm always ready. One way or other.

Hmmm, now what can I get into??... Jane
