Resurrecting the Cabin Block

Time to take a fresh look at this block and fired up from Allies new project. It's calling for a border with some printed imagery... way too much fun... thanks for the nudge as to where my heart is Allie!!!

I have another hiatus here as D left for Detroit this morning.... Hermit Bliss for 4 days... blessed "piece" and quiet!

but the best of all?

The weather has been stellar this past week and I finally got to the "big project". K came with the Bobcat and pushed these county dirt piles around. Now for the lumbar workout, pulling sods and clumps.

Is it possible that a tomatoe may show its face....

viney cucumber, squash and pumpkin off to the side on the incline...

Kentucky pole beans growing up the tipee and the old log chair as a place to rest and "watch the weeds grow" ???? Taming the soil in these woods is not for the faint hearted.

Needless to say, I am thrilled to have the start of my garden.

County dirt = free

Use of Bobcat = 2 housecleaning jobs

1 broken steel rake = repaired

cedar logs = free

4 Alleives and a 6 pack of Bud Light = approx $7.99

Vegetable garden = PRICELESS

We have the deer fencing behind the garage scavenged from a job D did over the summer, scrap cedar posts are waiting for us at the sawmill... did I say I'm estatic?

What I've been up to....

Got the ornament stitched up... hung with ribbon and a button

the little tag says "Happy Thanksgiving" Mom and Dad

and 1 banner done out of the 3... at least the other 2 will be ready to work on come next Halloween

I'm so excited about your dirt and fresh veggies!!!

I love how you used the stick for your banner. What a great idea. I said it before, but I think the longer banner looks more "Halloween". Love it!

Oh, I know what you mean. Allie is very inspiring. Did you know all those pictures she's working with now were taken in Michigan, about 1/2 mile down the road from my brother's house. It really is a small world.

Your little autumn crazy pieces are beautiful. I look forward to what you'll do with the cabin. (Both cloth & wood!)

Veggie gardens are the best! There is nothing like eating something you grew - the tastes are so much more flavoursome. Hope you have a pleasant few days on your own, and achieve what you want.

I'm so happy for you - for your gorgeous ornament, for your garden to come, and for the peace and quiet of your home for these days. And, for the hope that the Lions will win on Sunday. I was excited that they were up at halftime last week - how can they score so well and still lose?

Next spring will bring such new promise! I was so glad to read about the deer fence. Nothing is possible without it. And are you going to add some lime to that acid forest soil? ;-)

What a cool home portrait you have going with that log cabin block! I can't wait to see the border. That printing up your own fabric on demand can become quite addicting...

The garden looks great! And your house in the background? How wonderful it will all be next summer! Love the little ornie (and your sense of humor).
